1. Family is everything.
2. When you want to be with your family within seconds, five hours is too far.
3. I took my grandfathers for granted. Don't do that. Appreciate them. Hug them. Call them.
4. When facing loss, you truly do see who will be by your side through anything and everything.
5. Dominoes is a really fun game.
6. You find comfort in photos. Especially when you look at them with your family.
7. Music can break your heart and heal your heart in the same song. "Where Does the Time Go?" by A Great Big World is one of those songs.
8. Your friends will step up to the plate. You will take out all of your anger and frustration on them. And they will love you through all of it. And that will make you love them so much more.
9. Having a friend who is a pastor is an amazing thing.
10. Sometimes, you just need to blare the music, get in the shower, and cry.
11. Hold the memories close to your heart. Share them often. Listen to other people's stories. Ask questions. Learn what you didn't know before.
12. Laugh. Cry. Scream. Allow yourself to feel.
13. Until I meet my Maker, I will never truly understand why the past several months had to happen the way that they did. This has been the hardest lesson that I have had to learn and I still don't think I am there yet. I don't know if I am ever going to fully get there. But, I will pray to my Lord for guidance and reassurance and peace to come after the past several months
